(Treat) Yourself

Now that we have all the formalities out of the way, let's jump right into the fun stuff!


We've identified that COVID has taken a real toll on our mental. We've learned why it's important to take care of ourselves, and explored some best practices. Holding true to the "you cannot pour from an empty cup" theory, I felt it was only right we add a cherry on top before pouring ...


Treating yourself means whatever you want it to! Whether that's indulging in your favorite snack, retail therapy, going for walks (or drives in this freezing weather), working out, or reading to name a few. There is no wrong way to treat yourself, the only rule - do it in moderation!


When we think of wellness and treating ourselves, we might automatically assume healthy foods and yoga- which can be true..


However, I am no expert in this field. Below I've listed my favorite social media blogs that explore some of my favorite ways to indulge!


Noiregirlsplant


Jo has created a space dedicated to sharing tips on fostering healing through plants! She has created workshops, group hikes, and collaborates with other local organizations to continue to encourage her followers to grow!


I don't exactly have a green thumb, but Noiregirlsplant has peaked my interest in learning and becoming a plant mom!



The Empathy Crate


Treating myself often looks like, R&R! To add ambience, I like to light a candle and take a long bath with these amazing bath soaks! (Try it with the lights off, so calming!)



Curl Shoppe


If you're a curly gal like myself, then you know having the right products is crucial! Curl Shoppe is a local brand that has really taken the time to curate amazing products that can honestly be used on all textures!



Kariswithlove - 'Made with love' Vegan Meal Prep


I am not vegan, but in efforts to incorporate a healthier diet, I often turn to Karis' page for inspiration. Vegan meals with attitude!


Dav's Hotspot


Another local business that has quickly become my go to when I want to treat myself to some tasty soulfood!



Black Women's Yoga Collective


Yoga has become my favorite way to unwind, workout, or just spend time with myself. I appreciate the community this group has created! (PS. Everyone is welcome!)



Interestedinblackbooks


Reading is always a great way to spend time with yourself, learn and grow! I always want to find books that will resonate with me and challenge my thinking. I definitely recommend checking them out!


While this list doesn't fully represent all the top ways to treat yourself as it relates to wellness, they are my ways! I am grateful for the journey COVID has led me down, and I am excited to continue to explore.
